Hi, I’m Sarah – certified teacher, cultural anthropologist, BoyMom x 2, and Founder of Montclair Family Coaching.

I began my education career in 2013 at a leading education technology startup in Washington, D.C., building nationwide partnerships focused on financial literacy, digital citizenship, and entrepreneurship. Drawn to the front lines of teaching and learning, I pursued graduate studies and my professional certification at night while teaching elementary school during the day.

My wanderlust later brought me to Shanghai American School, one of Asia’s most prestigious international schools, where I taught early childhood education. After settling in the New York metropolitan area, I mentored pre-service teachers at Teachers College’s Rita Gold Early Childhood Education Center before bringing my family to Essex County, New Jersey, where I taught in Montclair’s nationally recognized public school district and at the renowned independent school Montclair Kimberley Academy.

This breadth of experience has helped me develop deep fluency in creative, progressive approaches to teaching and learning, including the Reggio Emilia Approach, project-based learning, sustainability education, and bilingual education.

After more than a decade working directly with young children and in the classroom, I decided to launch my own education practice to dive deeper into one of my favorite aspects of childhood education: family engagement. I founded Montclair Family Coaching to use my experience, skills, and qualifications to continue serving parents as they navigate the early years with their children and build their family legacy.

Along the way, I received the prestigious Doctoral Research Fellowship at Columbia University, where I am completing a Ph.D. I earned my BA from Georgetown University, my MA in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, and my MPhil in Anthropology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
